We all find ourselves in sticky situations during different
times in our lives. Have you ever wondered if hiring a
Texas private investigator would help you with your
problem? Maybe you suspect that your spouse/fiancé is
cheating on you, you are in the middle of a child custody case, or you
desperately need to locate someone. Maybe your situation has not progressed to that
stage yet and you only notice that your spouse or loved
one is acting differently, you have noticed some
behavior changes with someone that is important to you
(family member, close friend or a fiancé), or maybe you
just have a gut feeling that something is amiss. Texas
Private Investigators can be used to verify suspicions,
gather evidence that can be used in court, or to simply
have some PEACE OF MIND. Maybe you are wrong and there
is nothing going on with your spouse…it is always
better to know for sure.
Once you have decided to hire a private investigator how do
you pick the right one? All Texas Private Investigation
companies are required to be licensed with the Texas
Department of Public Safety Private Security Bureau. You
can check out a company on their website www.txdps.state.tx.us/psb,
click on search companies, enter the companies name or
their license number, and make sure that their license
is valid, current, and does not have any problems or
complaints. Beware of large companies that find contract
employees in different states (the company is not
licensed in Texas). These companies are too large to
handle your case and frequently send out inexperienced
investigators that do a lousy job at getting evidence
for you. These companies frequently advertise on the
internet in all 50 states even though they are not
located there and are not licensed in that state. You
also want to make sure that the company you hire is
insured. You can request a copy of the company’s
license before making any decisions about hiring them.
You also need to make sure that you sign a contract with
the company that you choose. Don’t ever give someone
cash or your credit card information without first
having everything in writing (this protects both you and
the company that you hire to conduct the
investigations). You also need to make sure that the
contract addresses confidentiality issues and that you
are completely comfortable with everything mentioned in
the agreement.
The big question now is who do you hire? There are lots of
companies that will fit this criteria (licensed by the
state of Texas, insured, can provide a contract). You
decide to call a company for a consultation; the person
that you speak with should be sensitive to your issues,
should spend time listening to you and your situation,
should offer some different options for you (every
investigation is unique), and should work with you and
your budget. If you call to speak with someone and they
rush you through the conversation and ask for your
credit card information then you KNOW that they are not
the right match (a 15 to 20 minute free consultation is
typical and should give the investigator an adequate
amount of information about your investigation). Each
case requires individualized efforts from a
professional, experienced, patient, and understanding
investigator. If your first conversation or dialect with
a company is not to your liking then KEEP LOOKING. The
chances are that they will not provide quality services
and that is absolutely of no benefit to you.
The investigator that you speak with should request detailed
information about you and your case. This can either be
e-mailed, faxed, mailed or hand delivered to the
investigator that will be working on your case. The more
information that you can provide will ultimately
decrease the cost of the investigation. If you know that
your husband works everyday from 9 to 5 and only has the
opportunity to cheat after 5 p.m. on Fridays and
Saturdays then you need to tell the investigator this!!!
The investigation should only be conducted at these
times, not during work hours when nothing will be going
on!! Also, tell the investigator of places that the
subject will be, frequent patterns of the subject, and
ALWAYS try to provide a photograph of the person that is
under investigation. Of course if you are locating an
individual or doing background checks then you should
provide the investigator with a full name, date of birth, current/old addresses, social security
number, and anything else that may facilitate the
investigation.
Once you have hired a Texas Private Investigator
to work on your case you should expect to get frequent
updates by telephone, e-mail, text or however else you
choose. This way you are not left wondering what is
going on. You should also receive (if requested) a
written timeline report and video of what happened
during the investigation; this is evidence that you can
obtain from a qualified investigation company and should
answer your questions, whatever they may be. Hopefully this information will
help you make the correct, well-informed decision about what Texas Private
Investigator to hire. If you would like to speak with
someone from our office please give us a call to discuss
your situation.
